GIVEAWAY: Chicken Soup for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Wives

Recently, I had the privilege of being on Johnny Tan's Blog Talk Radio show, From My Mama's Kitchen, where we talked about my newest book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Wives. We had a lot of fun talking about not only the wonderful stories in the book, but also about love and marriage! I really enjoyed hearing some of Johnny's thoughts on marriage from a male perspective. I hope you'll click on the player below and listen in.

GIVEAWAY: Leave a comment on this blog post sharing something you heard in the interview for the chance to win a copy of the book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Wives! (Giveaway ends at 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Open to US residents only.)

  2. I love your Michigan accent, very subtle but I noticed it when you said your son just graduated college. I would love to read your book. Embracing your differences and communication are so important in marriage, as is a relationship with God.

    1. I love your comment because I never thought of myself as having an accent. People from the South or Boston or Texas ... now they have accents. Those of us from Michigan are accent-free! LOL One other time, I had a stranger on the phone tell me that I must be from Michigan because my accent was the same as her roommate's, who was also from Michigan. It's interesting, too, that I still have my Michigan accent after living in Florida for 26 years. I guess we never lose the accent of our youth. Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

    2. lol, I live in San Diego, Ca born and raised and sometimes I get asked where I'm from. I don't think Californians are supposed to have accents. Best thing is my mom was born and raised here as well and there are quite a few words she can't say "properly." One of our favorites is "Warshington State" since that is where my husband is from. She gets teased a bit for adding that R and she sounds so funny when she tries not to. And it takes me only few hours to sound "southern" when I visit my extended family in Tallahassee, go figure.

  3. I read the you're from Lansing, Michigan and you're now living in Florida. It's so neat to learn that as I'm from the north (New Jersey) and moved to Florida. I also learned that there is a prayer and bible verse in the book. You're work is so inspirational. I look forward to reading this.
Thank you for the great giveaway! =)

  4. There was conversation regarding being there for the spouse. That everything that you do for the day is for the betterment of the family and the spouse. Learning to communicate that deals with an Army Spouse. They are newlyweds where the wife wakes out of a sound sleep and the husband was shattered when he realizes that he hurt his wife.
These are stories that happen in life. That life is good and then there is some distress and pain sometimes but marriage is working through these hardships and good times.
I have had these in my own life (as I had a severe health issue my first year of marriage).
