Haunted U Book Tour: An Excerpt and an eBook Giveaway!

Haunted U
by Jessica Gibson

Ezzie Lovegreen lives in a world where witches and ghosts are real. That doesn’t mean she’s not surprised when she’s suddenly being haunted by one at school.

With the help of her best friend Stella, her boyfriend Beau, and her grandmother Winifred, Ezzie must find out what happened to the ghost and set her free.

Secrets will be revealed that could change Ezzie’s life forever. Will Ezzie be strong enough to face the challenges set in her path?

An Excerpt from Haunted U:

Later that night, Ezzie woke to an argument downstairs.

“I don’t want you pressuring her, Winifred. I’ve let you have your way since she was thirteen, but not anymore,” Addelyn seethed. “Stop filling her head with fantasies about changing the world with magic. You come over here in the middle of the night and try to tell us how to raise our daughter--”

“Addelyn, you are so closed-minded. Wake up and see the world for what it is. It’s not all garden parties and ladies’ lunches. There is evil out there, and Ezzie needs to learn how to protect herself.”

“She doesn’t need to go running off to fight the wars of our world. She’s just a girl.”

“This isn’t your choice to make, Addelyn. Just like it wasn’t your choice to send her to me for training. I want what’s best for her,” Winifred responded calmly.

“You take far too many liberties with my family. I am her mother, not you.”

“I know who I am to her, and who I am to Jed. You are the one who seems to forget who I am. I have done far more for you than you care to remember. I’m sick of you treating me like I’m the wicked one.”

“I’ve not forgotten the past, Winifred,” Addelyn replied softly.

“Have you told her the truth then?”

Addelyn blanched. “She’s not ready for that.”

“She’s ready for more than you think she is. Ezzie is not a child anymore, and her powers are growing stronger every day,” Winifred shouted.

“Mama, Addie, calm yourselves, please.” Jed stepped between the women.

“Jed,” Addelyn warned.

“No, Addie, this is not the time for an argument. Ezzie is asleep. She doesn’t need to wake up to you both shouting.”

Winifred nodded. “Addelyn, I had hoped over time we would have come to more of an understanding. I do love you. You have given me so much. You love my son, and you have raised a beautiful young woman.”

“I’ve never doubted your love for Ezra. I just wish you would let us be from time to time,” Addelyn sighed.

“I’ll be leaving now, but please don’t underestimate her, Addelyn. She’s far more capable than you think she is.” Winifred kissed Jed on the cheek and left.

About Jessica Gibson
Jessica Gibson is a recovering bookaholic; she’s down from four books a week to a more reasonable one. It was that love of words and creativity that made her dream about writing her first book. That dream was hidden for years, always put on the back burner, filed away in the “someday” section, until her husband Matt gave her the kick in the pants she needed to actually get off her butt and write.

Jessica and Matt live in Southern California and have a serious addiction to reality TV shows like Pawn Stars and American Restoration. They have one son and hope to add to the family in the near future.
