Grammar Lesson: Farther vs Further

Many people become confused about the difference between "farther" and "further." In its simplest terms, remember this:

Farther: refers to a physical distance
Further: refers to a figurative distance

Examples:

The man ran farther than we did.
He went a greater physical distance, so "farther" is appropriate.

That couldn't be further from the truth.
There is no physical distance here, so "further" is the right choice.
