#RockYourBlog August Writing Prompts: Worst School Assignment

This month, I am participating in the #RockYourBlog Writing Prompts hop. The topic for today, August 23, is: What was the worst assignment ever given in school?

Honestly, I can’t remember any specific assignments that were so terrible that I haven’t forgotten them! But there were two types of assignments that I truly hated: oral presentations and group projects. I hated oral presentations because I am an introvert, and I feel very uncomfortable having that kind of attention on me. My instinct when I’m in a room full of people is to make myself as unobtrusive as possible! So, oral reports used to fill me with fear and dread. I also hated group projects because I always felt like the slackers got credit for the project that the “doers” (like myself) did! Or the reverse would happen, and I would get a lower grade because somebody on my team didn’t come through on their part of the assignment. I always preferred to do projects on my own and not have to rely on others’ efforts to succeed.
