THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE
Marta Perry
Widow Rebecca Mast returns to her Amish community with her son and a dream—to own a quilt shop. Carpenter Daniel King is determined to help Rebecca and revive their childhood friendship. But as he bonds with her son, Rebecca’s afraid the secret she’s been keeping will be revealed. Can Daniel convince Rebecca he’s a man she can trust -- and love?
My review: I’m a huge fan of Amish fiction, so this book suited me to a tee. Both Rebecca and Daniel were emerging from troubled pasts resulting in major trust issues. Rebecca’s marriage to her late husband had been troubled, and she was slowly rebuilding her life with her son after his death. She didn’t dare risk introducing any further turmoil into their lives. Daniel’s family had experienced several losses, too, which Daniel felt responsible for. He didn’t want to get too close to anyone for fear he’d mess up another relationship. But, despite their resistance, Rebecca and Daniel felt drawn to each other. Both characters were realistically portrayed with the feelings and behavior one would expect after what they’d been through. As in real life, healing didn’t take place overnight, and these characters needed time to learn to trust people again and begin to believe that they deserved happiness. This was a sweet but powerful story about two people who’d made mistakes in the past but were given a second chance at getting things right. I greatly enjoyed this story and hope to read more by Marta Perry.
