Book Review: "Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy," by Janice Lynn

I’ve always been a huge fan of Hallmark Channel movies. I set my DVR to tape as many as I can so I have a big selection to watch, especially when I’m in the mood for a feel-good, heart-warming story. These days, when everything around us seems to be troubling, we especially need movies that give us hope and warm feelings. So, being an avid reader, I was naturally thrilled when I learned that Hallmark now publishes novels with the same intention as their movies -- to inspire us and help us see the positive aspects of life.

I recently had the opportunity to read a new release from Hallmark Publishing entitled Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy. In this story by bestselling author Janice Lynn, the eternally upbeat owner of a fabric store in a small town, Sophie Davis, meets an enigmatic firefighter, Cole Aaron. Cole is a former Marine who moved to Pine Hill, Kentucky, in the hopes of helping him forget the trauma he experienced during his military service. Because he feels broken, Cole is detached and doesn’t let people get too close to him. But Sophie believes that Cole’s actions speak louder than his words. She sees the good man behind the gruff exterior and attempts to break through the shell he’s erected around himself. Meanwhile, her sister warns her against getting too close because their father, a troubled vet, was the source of much pain in their lives.

I loved this story about two people who are struggling to find their way in an imperfect world. Like the Hallmark movies I watch, Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy made me feel hopeful that good will win in the end. I look forward to reading more books from Hallmark Publishing. They’re just the antidote I need when I feel stressed or overwhelmed. I hope you’ll join me in reading Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy by Janice Lynn.
